Thank you for taking time to check out what’s happening at Laraway Youth & Family Services! We’re very excited about our work with kids and families from across Vermont and appreciate your interest.

Who do we serve at Laraway?

Since 1972, we’ve provided supports to kids who have been removed from the custody of their parents, removed from their public school, or who are on the verge being removed from their home or school. Breakdowns at home or school can lead to acting out behavior or isolation and in many cases a disintegration of any sense of family or community. Current economic challenges only magnify the pressures for kids.

What can Laraway do?

Laraway helps kids rebuild a lost or broken sense of community. In our Foster Care Program this might be facilitating visits between our kids and their family members with a goal of reunification. Our Backpack Program helps kids develop the behavioral skills needed to be active learners and participants in their public schools. Laraway School offers highly individualized learning opportunities, allowing kids to discover their hidden talents and strengths. Please check the program tabs to learn more about these successful programs.

Where is Laraway heading?

Laraway relocated to a 39-acre farm in Johnson, Vermont. This picturesque location gives a chance to blend our innovative education and treatment supports in a bucolic agricultural setting. We’re very excited about the prospect of our kids learning to farm- from planting seeds and harvesting to processing our produce for local food shelves, for sale to the community and for meals for our kids and staff.
